Bath, Me to Bucksport, Me

Miles 86

avg mph 14

max mph on hill 46

Left early today. All the fast riders had not left yet.  We rode US 1 most of the day.  I rode by myself for the first 43 miles.  I was moving along pretty well today.  I was the front runner up til mile 43.  The van/trailer  was at 43.  I stopped to take a butt break, bathroom break, and to eat something.  Rhonda and Patty were with the van and trailer.  I waited for Patty.  She had to wait for Sue the cook to get to the van.  They switched and off we went. Rhonda was riding in the van today.  Patty and I rode  the last 43 miles together.  We rode with not a lot of talking.  Which is alright by me.  It was a long hard day.  A lot of hills.  I had a flat around the 65 mark.  Patty and I had stopped at a gas station to get drinks and eat.  When we were getting ready to leave I noticed my rear tire had a flat.  I patched a hole in the tire.  We replaced the tube.  Off we went.  About three miles down the road I had a flat.  I called the sag.  She came to help.  By the time Sue the sag got to us we had patched another hole in the tire replaced the tube.  So I used the floor pump to air my tire.  We had 18 miles to the hotel.  The whole time on the rest of the way I was saying to myself.  Please dont have a flat, Please not have a flat tire.  Please let me get to the hotel without a flat.  I made it.  My last 86 mile bike ride completed.  Dont plan on having one of those for a while.  After a very long shower.  I bought a new tire from woman tours.  Was replacing it.  Put the tube in.  The  tube wouldn't hold air.  So I got Patty to help.  We got the tire off replaced the tube.  Got it together.  Went to air it up, the tube would not hold air.  We figured it was when we used the tire levers to get the tire over the rim.  We were pinching the tube.  So when putting the third tube on.  We used hand muscle to get the tire over the rim with the tube safely inside.  It worked.  So a total of 5 inner tubes.  And one tire later I think I'm ready for the last 42 miles.

Coming into Waldeboro off of US 1 you go down a hill around a curve and then straight up to Main st.  Steep climb.  And its a never ending hill

Once you get up main st you make a right onto Old Route One.  Onto another steep hill.
